Barbara loved her cruises and would ask me to shorten her long dresses for her. She would tell me about the compliments she got when wearing them and I would say to her - ‘did anyone say how well the ‘hem’ looked?’, and she would have to admit ‘no they did not’. I could not share the accolades with her, it was all down to her. She always looked good. Knew exactly what colours suited her and how to put an outfit together with everything co-ordinating, including her necklaces and earings and she loved ‘dressing up’. Of course being an attractive lady who looked far younger than her years helped a lot too!
